Acquisition Program Analyst / Systems Engineer - El Segundo, CA 210126
A² Systems Engineering is seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer / Acquisition Program Analyst to support a security space program in El Segundo, CA focused on advanced RDT&E prototype systems, including programs that will be tested on orbit. This position provides direct support across systems engineering, test & evaluation (T&E), acquisition strategy, program management, and program protection activities for critical space and defense initiatives.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced government program environment and possess experience supporting technical reviews, acquisition planning, cybersecurity/program protection efforts, and coordination across multiple stakeholders.
Location: On-Site Government Facility
Clearance Requirement: Active Secret Clearance Required; ability to support TS/SCI and SAP activities preferred
Salary Range: $170,000/yr – $200,000/yr · Full-time starting salary will ultimately depend on several differentiating factors, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories
Key Responsibilities
Systems Engineering & Test and Evaluation Support
- Support systems engineering and T&E activities across all program phases
- Participate in and support:
- System Requirements Reviews (SRR)
- Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR)
- Critical Design Reviews (CDR)
- Integration Design Reviews (IDR)
- Engineering Review Boards (ERBs)
- Technical Deep Dives
- Assembly, Integration & Test (AI&T)
- Integrated Logistics and Lifecycle (ILC) planning
- Operational planning and support
Acquisition & Program Management Support
- Assist with acquisition strategy development and execution
- Support advanced space project planning and development activities including space prototypes and demonstrations as well as concept validation
- Develop and oversee requirements to meet program, schedule, contract, and cost constraints
- Provide recommendations and support to project baselines and management plans, memorandums of agreement, requirements traceability plans, project reviews, resource plans and policies implementation plans
- Develop and review acquisition documentation, including:
- Program Management Reviews (PMRs)
- Requests for Information (RFI)
- Sources Sought packages
- Market Research Reports
- Justifications & Approvals (J&A)
- Statements of Work (SOW)
- Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs)
- Contract Line Item Numbers (CLINs)
- Incentive Fee Plans
Program Protection Support
- Support Program Protection Planning and cybersecurity activities
- Develop, update, and review:
- Program Protection Plans (PPP)
- Program Protection Implementation Plans (PPIP)
- Participate in Program Protection, Cyber, and Security Working Groups
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Program Management, or related field
- 10 or more years experience supporting DoD or space-related acquisition and engineering programs
- Familiarity with systems engineering lifecycle processes and technical reviews
- Experience supporting acquisition documentation and program management activities
- Knowledge of program protection, cybersecurity, or security planning processes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a government/contractor integrated environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting space systems or on-orbit prototype programs
- Familiarity with DoD acquisition framework and rapid prototyping efforts
- Experience supporting classified programs

Responsibilities
- Use modern analytical and AI-enabled tools to improve research, workflow efficiency, and communication effectiveness

- Rapidly synthesize technical, operational, and programmatic information into concise, actionable insights
- Support future mission and capability planning efforts across the national security space enterprise

- Coordinate across multiple organizations and stakeholders to support alignment of mission objectives and priorities
- Develop executive-level decision briefs, strategic assessments, and presentations that support senior leadership decisions

Experience and Education Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience supporting space systems acquisition, integration, engineering, operations, strategy, or related national security programs
- MS/MA degree in systems engineering, engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or related technical field
- Ability to independently perform all functional duties with limited supervision

Senior Analyst / Systems Engineer - El Segundo, CA 180526
A² Systems Engineering, Inc. is seeking a highly analytical and strategically minded professional to support a critical national security space mission in El Segundo, CA.
Analyst / engineer / planner with a systems-engineering and/or mission engineering foundation and working knowledge of military operations and concepts. Supports strategic planning, future capability-needs assessment, and prioritization of supporting science and technology (S&T) investments. Designs and runs small, fast studies that produce repeatable, traceable processes and decision products for senior leaders, grounded in the standard DoD planning lexicon — Science and technology (S&T) development; Military Operating-Functional-Enabling Concept Development, Capabilities-Based Assessment (CBA), Analysis of Alternatives (AoA), Development Planning, and PPBE-aligned S&T management.
Required
- Masters Degree in engineering, operations research, computer sciences.
- 10 years in DoD or Service space systems (or adjacent) within acquisition, capability planning, requirements analysis, mission engineering, or technology planning; headquarters-staff exposure preferred.
- Working command of: military service concepts and force design; CBP and CBA; mission engineering; requirements development under Joint and Service practice; AoA; force-structure analysis; technology planning and S&T portfolio assessment; decision analysis and structured prioritization.
- Concise written analysis and persuasive verbal reasoning in front of senior decision-makers.
- Strong initiative; scopes a loose tasking and returns a defensible product on a short timeline.
- Subject-matter expert on arrival, or a demonstrably fast learner — the team is too small to carry ramp-up time.
Desired
- Working proficiency with enterprise LLM environments (e.g., Ask Sage, GenAI); structured prompting and prompt iteration as an analytic discipline.
- Experience building agentic workflows that chain LLM reasoning with data ingestion and structured-output generation; able to design processes that yield identical results from identical inputs whether executed by a human or an AI agent.
- Python for data manipulation and lightweight automation; Warpcore or comparable analytic environment a plus.
- Prior uniformed-military service in a planning, requirements, or technology billet.
