Technology Transition Support Lead

A² Systems Engineering, Inc., a veteran owned business, is seeking to immediately hire a Technology Transition Support Lead who will provide active engagement in technology transition processes for USSF space missions to reduce failures at the so-called “Valley of Death”. This position supports the Space Systems Command (SSC), Space Systems Integration Office (SSC/BZY) to engage and close issues within the technology transition processes between the Air Force Research Lab (among others) and the PEO acquisition programs and SpOC operational Deltas. The candidate will work at SSC’s site in Colorado Springs, CO.

Responsibilities:

The candidate will provide support for a variety of tasks and projects, to include but not limited to:

  • Conduct and support overall planning for technology transition activities
  • Support the management of USSF Science & Technology (S&T) within DAFI 61-101
  • Establish and monitor Capability Collaboration Teams (CCTs), invigorate the transition planning processes, and work with the community to increase the Transition Confidence Level of selected technology solutions
  • Coordinate team actions to identify potential execution agents for technology transition
  • Advise on strategic investment or divestment decisions, link funding to technology development and integration efforts, and accelerate maturation and transition of selected technology development into the next generation of space capabilities across SSC’s $9B portfolio
  • Coordinate with the SpOC Space Mission Deltas on transition planning and coordination
  • Maintain cognizance of the portfolio of development and transition projects and prioritize which efforts to fund based on mission needs and timelines
  • Assist transition facilitators with cost/schedule estimates for technology transition/integration
  • Develop and collect metric data on transition confidence levels, investments, accomplishment of tech objectives, and then identify problem areas for action
  • Provide quarterly briefings/reporting to the SSIO and the HAF/SQT on technology transition issues and progress
  • Engage with broad external space community (AFRL, NRO, DARPA, NASA, NOAA, Joint, Allied, commercial, and others) to match game-changing products, services, and technologies to meet warfighter requirements
  • Work to improve the number of successful outcomes for the investments and projects that meet technology needs

Qualifications:

  • MUST BE knowledgeable of DoD acquisition processes (major capability acquisition, middle tier), technology maturation and risk reduction phases
  • MUST BE knowledgeable of the DoD prototyping process and guidance and of the AFRL technology maturation and development processes
  • Should be an outgoing, persuasive and an effective facilitator. This will be instrumental when negotiating between the various Government activities participating in the technology development process.

 Education Requirements:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as engineering, science, technology, or mathematics
  • 10+ years of relevant space systems acquisition or operations experience

 Clearance Requirements:

  • Active Top Secret with SCI eligibility

Salary Range: $150,000/yr – $160,000/yr · Full-time
