Director, Business Development for Space - El Segundo, CA

A² Systems Engineering, Inc., a veteran owned small business, is seeking a Business Development and Capture Manager who will lead initiatives to generate and capture new business opportunities across the US Space Force and Department of Defense agencies implementing our company’s growth strategy. The ideal candidate will support business development efforts from our corporate office in El Segundo, CA and possess a deep knowledge of US Defense Department organizations. Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Have market knowledge of Defense Department services, agencies, and industry partners performing systems engineering, integration, and technical assistance to DoD, USAF, USSF, etc.
  • Develop and execute planning for high-value opportunities primarily across United States Space Force organizations and the Intelligence Community (IC)
  • Experience developing and maintaining relationships with other DoD and IC small and large business industry partners and developing strong teaming strategies
  • Plan and participate in capture activities, to include opportunity gate reviews, black hat sessions, collaboration and workshop sessions, and proposal color reviews
  • Experience integrating company capability information into response documents, including RFl’s, Sources Sought, data calls, and final proposals
  • Identify new business opportunities and work the process from initiation to proposal to transition
  • Ability to flourish with senior management guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty
  • Develop new relationships in an effort to grow business and help company expand

Job Requirements:

Senior Orbital Analyst - San Diego, CA

A² Systems Engineering is seeking an Orbital Analyst (OA) for a position in San Diego, CA. This position requires a detailed understanding of orbital mechanics and will support the Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) / Narrowband Satellite Communications (NBSC) program office as an orbital engineering subject matter expert. The candidate will solve various orbital mechanics problems and process data for orbital states and predictions as well as conduct detailed orbit planning and constellation planning for both pre and post launch satellites.


  • Expert in the use of OA tools such as LM STARS, Orbit Analysis System (OAS), OS Comet, Test & Training Simulator, Black Workstation operations & MAS
  • Conduct orbit analysis and orbit product generation supporting daily orbit activities for large-scale constellations, including station keeping, conjunction analysis, sensor coverage, and ground entry point (GEP) contact planning
  • Apply knowledge of orbital mechanics and astrodynamics to conduct orbital analysis, including orbit determination, general and special perturbation-based data and formats, orbit decay, and orbital maneuvers for station keeping and change of station
  • CGN processes manager for risk tools, document centers, and contract evaluations
  • Perform real time support, troubleshooting and analysis of in-orbit satellite anomalies, providing immediate and relevant problem identification and resolution
  • Provide support for root cause analysis and investigation of satellite anomalies
  • Contribute relevant expertise for Informal Notification Notes (INFO Notes) MUOS Satellite Support Center (MSSC) recommendations, Operational Special Mission Timeline (OSMTL)/Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM)/ Orbital Operations Handbook (OOH) development, and training
  • Develop and maintain operation procedures including the contingency and normal operational procedures and changes as well as database update management
  • Provide in-depth knowledge of the A2100 bus and understanding of satellite subsystems in support of sustainment efforts
  • Communicate complex network solutions to technical and non-technical employees


  • Minimum ten (10) years of space-related experience involving satellite catalog maintenance, orbital analysis, and collision avoidance
  • Toolkit experience, including Systems Toolkit (STK), Orbit Determination Tool Kit (ODTK), and MATLAB
  • Trajectory analysis tool experience such as POST, OTIS, Astrogator, or Copernicus
  • Operations background to include, in-depth understanding of satellite TT&C operations specific to 10SOPS, payload operations, Delta 8 users and Network Management Facilities (Wahiawa NMF)
  • Thorough understanding of spacecraft, space operations and ground interfaces
  • System engineering mindset that allows the person to have a global view of problems and solution sets
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of personal responsibility

Education Requirements:

Systems Engineer and Database Developer - El Segundo, CA

  • Design and develop databases using industry standard tools

DevSecOps Cloud Solution Architect - San Diego, CA

A² Systems Engineering, Inc., a veteran owned small business, is seeking a DevSecOps Cloud Solution Architect in San Diego, CA. The DevSecOps Cloud Solution Architect will serve as an expert in transitioning a traditional HW/SW architecture to a containerized, digital architecture using tools such as Kubernetes, etc., to support the Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) / Narrowband Satellite Communications (NBSC) program office. The candidate will be familiar with cloud architecture and DevSecOps best practices, tools, and approaches, and demonstrated technical leadership experience either within industry or government overseeing similar transition(s) for other national security systems. The candidate will also be involved in every stage in the software project lifecycle, from initial design and build to rollout and maintenance.


  • Responsible for gathering system requirements from application architects and product owners
  • Responsible for technical evaluation of cloud strategy and program architecture
  • Remain current with new emerging industry cloud technologies and their potential utilization within hybrid cloud environments

Clean Energy Analyst

A² Systems Engineering, Inc., a veteran owned small business, is seeking a Clean Energy Analyst to support the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Environment & Energy Resilience). Located in the National Capital Region, this person must have a passion for clean energy and strong energy background, particularly in Department of Defense (DoD) Installation Energy, and strong communication and critical thinking ability.


  • Provide technical expertise in support of government clients in the areas of carbon free electricity, zero emissions vehicles and related infrastructure, and net zero.
  • Attend high-level meetings when the government client is unable to, knowing when to take note of pertinent energy issues, and then communicating meeting outcomes back to the client.
  • Lead the coordination of large webinars and working groups on various clean energy topics, such as carbon free electricity, zero emissions vehicles, net zero and others to include identifying speakers and managing the overall virtual event.
  • Generate important documents to communicate clean energy progress, data, and messages, such as emails, briefings, and more.
  • Draft responses to Congressional requests and for information and reporting requirements for review by the government client.
  • Conduct data analysis and generate data visualizations as assigned using large clean energy data sets.
