Position Description

The Space Rapid Capabilities Office (SpRCO) is the USAF’s premier space acquisition agency providing cost-effective, long-term, critical capabilities to support the war-fighting mission of the combatant commanders. In order to meet current and projected workload requirements, the SpRCO will augment its organic (military and civil service) capabilities with a selective group of Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) personnel who are recognized as superior performers.

The SpRCO SMEs will provide Space-centric operational and technical services throughout the acquisition life-cycle. The objective is to provide specialized expertise to complement the organization’s inherent resources for effective and efficient mission accomplishment and continuity, introduction of innovation, and enhancement of technical competence. The team shall support the entire spectrum of acquisition efforts as necessary to support the SpRCO.

• Develop acquisition strategies and prepare acquisition documentation / products in support of various SpRCO acquisition programs
• Support AF customers for successful Defense Acquisition Boards (DABs), Milestone Decisions, Independent Program Assessments (IPAs), and other acquisition milestones / events
• Assist AF customers conducting milestone decision planning and execution activities for multitude of Acquisition Category (ACAT) programs
• Manage all integration issues that arise from the various reviews, evaluations, and assessments as directed by DoDI 5000.2
• Attend required SpRCO meetings, conferences, reviews, and briefings

Required Qualifications

•Minimum of 15 years of experience with the design, production, distribution, and publication of acquisition documents as requested by AF customer
•Ability to multi-task and conduct milestone decision planning and execution activities
•In depth knowledge of DoD 5000 instructions; required to maintain cognizance of evolving acquisition guidance
•Knowledge and experience with the Space Control or Space Situational Awareness (SSA) capabilities
•Experience in rapid capabilities: Full life cycle acquisition-concept to transition to ops—for rapid acquisition program.

•Master of Science Degree in engineering, science, or math; or related discipline or a Bachelor of Science Degree in engineering, science, or math; or related discipline with 15+ years satellite subsystems knowledge and experience on ACAT I or equivalent satellite development programs
•Past experience in Space Control (offensive or defensive) and/or Space Situational Awareness (SBSS, etc.)
•Past RCO and acquisition experience highly desirable
•Active TS/SCI required, with a minimum of five years of SAP experience
